on April 24, 2012, Google Drive is an open source program that has a lot of file
storage and synchronization. This service is provided by Google. Google Drive
is the home of Google Docs, which offers editing on documents, spreadsheets,
presentations, and much more. Google Drive is a huge part in the communication
of today’s society and helps to connect people to one another. Like other
technology, Google Drive can be used negatively and positively in many
different areas.
Google
Drive can be used in business, news, and entertainment. Google Drive allows a
business to access their files anywhere, bring their work to life, buy what
they need, and grow flexibly. Google Drive gives businesses access to their
work from anywhere, including Macs, PCs, mobile devices, and on the web.
Changes one makes to a document are automatically saved to the Drive, and other
devices. This is positive because it allows businesses to have access to their
work at all times and makes it easier to receive changes employees may make.
This is negative because it can cause one to become obsessed with work. Google
Drive allows businesses to share files or folders with individuals, their
entire team, customers, or partners. Multiple people are able to work on a
document at the same time. On the positive side, this connects employees to
employees, businesses to customers, etc. Also, it allows businesses to see what
others are editing. On the negative side, files can accidentally be shared with
people they are not supposed to be shared with, such as competitors. Google
Drive gives businesses a free 30 GB of storage for documents, spreadsheets, and
slides. On the positive side, a lot can be stored on Google Drive. On the
negative side, a business could run out of space and have to pay $4.00 a month
for 20 GB. Google Drive can be used in news and entertainment. It allows one to
share articles about the news, and other news related files to other people. There
is nothing negative about this, in my opinion. Google Drive can also be used in
entertainment. It allows one to share links, videos, and photos with others.
Entertainment businesses are able to share certain documents, such as ads or
scripts, to the rest of their business, and customers. This is positive because
it connects the entertainment industry to others in the business, and outside
the business. This can be negative because if an entertainment industry
accidentally shares their files with a competitor or someone helping a
competitor, their ideas can be stolen.
Google
Drive can be used in can be used recreationally and socially. Google Drive
allows one to sync or upload media files. One can preview and play a video. On
the positive side, this can entertain one when they are bored. Recreationally,
one can go on Google Drive and entertain themselves by watching videos they
have saved to their Drive, or others have shared with them. On the negative
side, this makes one reliant on the Internet to have fun or to stop boredom.
This minimizes face to face contact and can cause one to spend excess time on
the computer, which is a negative outcome. Google Drive can also be used
socially. Google Drive can connect many individuals through the sharing of
documents, spreadsheets, media files, and slides. This is positive because one
is able to easily share their work with others. Students could use this to
share their projects or homework with other students. This can be negative too
because when sharing documents, others can edit the work that it contains.
Also, files can be shared with the wrong people. Recently, Google announced
that it will be releasing a social feature known as “group chat” for Google Drive.
Group chats can be started in Google Drive with a single click and allows
everyone in the file to be messaged. This is positive because it allows groups
of people to communicate about a certain project or work they are working on. There
is nothing negative about this feature.
Google
Drive is a large part of how present-day society communicates and connects with
one another. It has many uses that have positive effects, but also contains
uses that could lead to negative effects. Google Drive negatively and
positively functions in many areas, including business, social life, entertainment,
news, and recreational activities.
